Why launch the Happyhub?

In South-Africa costs per megabyte are absurdly expensive. If you don’t have much to spend, you sadly have no other choice. This makes internet in townships hardly accessible, while it is essential in this corona situation. But if you can’t make it alone, join forces! Because did you know that when buying in bulk packages, data in South Africa becomes one of the cheapest in the world?

How does the Happyhub make a difference?

  • A container is turned into a workspace for 10 entrepreneurs.
  • Of course you can also buy Winelates chocolate here.
  • The 10 entrepreneurs receive a router and 3 months unlimited internet.
  • After 3 months the 10 entrepreneurs take over the unlimited internet subscription. This way they benefit from lower prices and the project can continue on its own.
  • The greatest news ever: Shawn is going to manage the HappyHub
This way our shared journey continues together! View this video to see how it all started.

Joining forces!

Without your purchase, donations and the played Happyhulpjes games by Vereijken, National Elderly Fund, Kodision, Innoboost, Rasasari and the Rotary Arnhem-Huissen, the Happyhub would not have been possible. By using our funding for this project, Happyhulpjes gives entrepreneurs the tools to grow their own business. Because of the corona situation shoppingtrips are not possible this year, but with Shawn of Winelates we quickly discovered that creating an opportunity for cheaper internet is a great way to support entrepreneurs in Khayelitsha. We truly believe that local entrepreneurs can uplift Khayelitsha. Happyhulpjes just wants to provide the tools, so that the entrepreneurs themselves can turn this into positive impact for their community. We’ve seen how resilient these entrepreneurs can be!

How can you support?

In May or in the beginning of June, we want to launch the Happyhub. We’re extremely close to making all this happen. Watch the Happyhulpjes or Winelates social media channels for in between updates. End of June we will share a results video! The Happyhub is just the start. On this page, we let you know what the entrepreneurs need to expand their positive impact in Khayelitsha. Will you support them in the next step?

Hall of fame!
